• Making an Insurance Claim

Unfortunately, things happen, and you'll need to make a claim. When making an insurance claim, start by gathering all necessary documentation, such as photos of the damage, receipts, and any relevant reports (e.g., police or medical).

Review your policy to understand coverage and deductibles.

Instead of calling your insurance agent directly, contact your insurance company’s claims department through their dedicated claims hotline or online portal, as this ensures faster processing.

Be clear and concise when describing the incident, and keep a record of all communications, including claim numbers and adjuster names.

Follow up promptly on any requests for additional information to avoid delays in your claim’s resolution.

    To Make Your Claim

You need to reach out to your individual insurance company claims department.  The number is on all your paperwork, and your insurance card. If you can't find it, call us at (651) 675-4884, and we'll assist you with the correct number.

    Small Claims

For small claims close to or below your deductible, carefully consider whether to file. If the claim amount is less than or near your deductible, you’ll likely pay most or all of the repair costs out of pocket, as the insurance payout may not cover much after the deductible is applied.

Filing a small claim could also lead to potential downsides: it may increase your future premiums, as insurers often view frequent claims as higher risk, and it could affect your claims history, which might impact renewals or eligibility for discounts. Some policies also have a “claims-free” discount that you could lose.

Instead, weigh the cost of repairs against the potential premium hike—typically, small claims under $2,000 are often better handled out of pocket to avoid rate increases.

If you’re unsure, contact your insurance AGENT FIRST (NOT the company’s claims department) for guidance without formally filing, or check your policy for details on how claims affect rates. Some companies will report just your inquiry as starting a claim!

Keep records of any repairs for future reference.

TIP: The claims phone number to call is usually right on your insurance card.
